Institute presentation
CeRMS/COES is an innovative Oncology University Center created following the “Comprehensive Cancer Center” model and it is situated in the San Giovanni Battista University Hospital, the greatest hospital of the Piemonte Region. The Center is composed of two main branches, the research one, CeRMS (Center for Experimental Research and Medical Studies) and the clinical one, COES (Haematology and Oncology Subalpine Centre), making possible translational research. The research activity of CeRMS is carried out by 80 researchers that come from different laboratories: Molecular Diagnosis and Oncology, Tumor Epidemiology, Hematology, Tumor Immunology, Immunogenetic, Biochemistry, Angiogenesis and Vascular Pathology.
The clinic division (COES) consists of 64 beds for day hospital and 18 ambulatories. It coordinates all the oncology activities of the San Giovanni Battista University Hospital and guarantees fast clinical treatments. Many clinical trials are carried out by COES.
The integration between these two branches permits the development of translational medicine programs in oncology and hematology and represents a peculiar feature of COES/CeRMS in the national biomedicine research panorama.
